Emily Ingraham
Vocals/Violin/Piano
The second oldest of five girls, Emily Ingraham grew up surrounded by
music. Her mother began teaching her to play the piano at age 4, and
she rapidly progressed through the Suzuki piano repertoire. At age
nine she began studying violin with Carolyn Mix. Throughout middle
school and high school she played extensively with her family in the
surrounding community, writing and arranging chamber pieces for
violin, piano, flute, cello, and harp. In high school she was accepted
to the Maine All-State competitions for both violin and voice, and
played first chair for chamber and orchestra groups at the Suzuki
Institute of America.

When she was 14 years old, Emily began teaching her younger sister how
to play the violin, and soon became a known name in the teaching
community of southern maine. By the time she graduated from high
school she had a music studio of over 20 violin and piano students.

In college, Emily earned a major in Communications and Law, and a
minor in music, studying violin with Dr. I Hao Lee from Julliard, and
piano with Flora Lu Kuan (Manhattanville). She participated in chamber
groups as both a violinist and a pianist, and played first violin for
the Westchester Community Orchestra. She continued coaching friends
and students in both violin and piano studies.

Emily enjoys all styles of music, and is familiar with both the Suzuki
and traditional methods of teaching. She believes firmly in an
individual and flexible approach to learning music, tailoring study to
meet each individuals needs!
