Giorgi Baino Recording
Giorgi Baino, Tunetown’s principal recording faculty member, earned her first tape recorder at the age of
fourteen by selling personalized Christmas Cards. She wanted to be more like her grandfather, who found it
necessary to hide the tools on 5-year-old Giorgi, as she loved to investigate, disassemble and diagnose all
that was electrical.
Through the years Giorgi’s mentors took her on the journey of building amplifiers and analyzing recordings.
Her love for music piqued her desire to sing and write her own songs. Giorgi recorded internationally for
several labels including RCA Records and Atlantic Records. Her group “Giorgi ‘n the Bad Girls” video earned
The BU Film Unit the Honorary Foreign Film Award for music videos.
During her “Bad Girl” days Giorgi worked with many award-winning engineers and producers, who often put Giorgi
behind the recording console. She eventually went on to produce and engineer hundreds of projects. Giorgi has
gone on to become the chief engineer for several post production houses throughout New England. She is also
well known in the recording community as a consultant and problem solver. Being on both sides of the glass has helped Giorgi develop a wealth of knowledge in the studio and recording.
Giorgi is presently on staff at the University of Southern Maine’s radio station WMPG, where she has taught
Protools. She has also created a number of radio personalities, including Gale Winds, The SceneQueen, and
Doctor Audio. Her Doctor Audio pieces were created to help recording enthusiasts find solutions to their
problems and assist them in their quest to record their own recording projects.
Giorgi holds a Master of Fine Arts from Goddard College, where she majored in Mixing, Mastering, Audio Restoration,
and Surround Sound Technology. It is Giorgi’s goal to make the secrets of recording accessible and to impart to recording enthusiasts,
her knowledge of the latest recording advancedments.
