What do I need to bring to my lessons?
Any music you want to work on, and questions. Your teacher can help you with the backing music.
Do I need to already have a musical background?
Just the passion to learn, your teacher has the experience to take you wherever you wish on your musical journey.
Jess has been teaching music lessons (vocals and group lessons) and working with children for over 9 years. Music is a huge part of her life. She graduated from a performing arts HS in Pennsylvania and then went on to study music education at USM. Most of her experience is vocals but she also plays piano, acoustic guitar, uke, and flute. She is currently a lead singer for the band Woodland Protocol and a backup vocalist for the Masterstroke Queen Experience.
JD Raines has been fascinated by music for his entire life. He grew up in Maine and has performed across New England as both a solo artist and with his band, Better Than, which MaineToday noted "has been a constant name in the local music scene."
In May 2015 JD graduated from the University of Maine Augusta, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Jazz and Contemporary Music with a concentration in Music Education. While at UMA, JD was a vocalist with Envok, the upper level vocal ensemble. He also performed with many other ensembles as a sought-after vocalist, guitarist, and drummer. He has studied with many talented and well-known musicians, including Dr. Richard Nelson, Dr. Timothy Weir, Scott Hughes and Bob Thompson.
Tisa has recently moved to Southern Maine and is excited to join the teaching staff at TuneTown. She loves helping students find their niche’ in their musical journey.
Whether the student enjoys classical music, improv, pop, gospel or blues; if the student is a beginner or has played for several years; whether he or she wants to perform and compete or just enjoy playing at home, Tisa wants to facilitate an enjoyable and optimal experience for each student. Even though she has taught private piano and vocal lessons since her college days, she has never lost her love of helping students grow musically and become their personal best.
